“Conventional wisdom leads to conventional results.”
When I started my business, I had the idea that I would work 8-2 and not let my business control me. I left my corporate job to have some flexibility in my schedule and freedom with my time.
Things quickly changed. Before I knew it, I had too many groups to handle on my own and not enough time to even pee, let alone have lunch.
What happened to my time freedom?!?! Does this ring a bell for you too?
Today I want to share with you what I learned about the truth surrounding time freedom and flexible work schedules as an entrepreneur.
Here are some of the ideas I had to work through when thinking about my time and my intentions regarding my business *No judgment or shame here…. these are my experiences and thoughts.
When I first started my business (with zero profit), one of the key questions I had to ask myself was, “Can I afford NOT TO.” “Can I afford NOT TO invest in coaching for myself.” “Can I afford NOT TO have childcare for my small children.”
Conventional wisdom said, “Tasha- you CAN’T afford a coach”, “You CAN’T afford childcare”…. I knew that in order to get unconventional results, I COULD NOT go with conventional wisdom.
I knew that I would never be able to create a successful business if I didn’t invest in myself and my time.
So many people start off as an entrepreneur and they end up not making it because they START with time freedom. Time freedom is earned… by working hard and having a schedule. If you START with time freedom, you won’t have a business. Scheduling in work time rather than trying to fit work into the nooks and crannies can allow you to get the work done AND do the important family and life things… and be present while you are there.
